The "Parking Police"
We went to the grand opening of Lakes Regional Library. We turned into the road to the parking lot and saw a line of cars, each stopping to talk to police "volunteers." We got up to the head of the line and a boy scout said, "The lot is full- you have to go park a mile away and take a shuttle bus." I told him about the wheelchair and lift, yada, yada. He said- "go talk to those guys over there. Drove over to the guys. Gave me a look, the 3 of them, stood in front of the van and said-"The lot is FULL. Go park at Heights!" Very stern looks. I told them about ramp, wheelchair, yada, yada and could clearly see empty disabled spaces in the library lot. "No, the shuttle has a lift, so you have to go." Jerks. So we almost went home- I don't know how we could handle a wc, jogging stroller, and baby on a mini bus. Anyway, we tried it and the driver was very nice. He let me bring the stroller- he even put it up the lift. So we got to the library and I realized I forgot Ev's bottle in the car. Shit. He can't last an hour without a bottle. So we spent an hour there and it was really nice, but crowded, and got back on the shuttle and to the car. I was quite tired. Al was great! She tried to cheer me up. The library staff was great too. But a bit "PPPPPPPPPTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTBBBBBBBBBBBB!!!!! to the parking police.
